|
Celtic Woman, the multi platinum selling singing group, has landed their second album debut in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top 200. “Songs from the Heart” is in the No. 9 spot. In addition the album is the fifth release for the group to debut in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s World Music Chart. The live concert companion DVD also debuted as No. 1on Billboard’s top Music DVD Chart.
Celtic Woman will be kicking off their new national wide tour of over 75 cities starting in Roanoke, VA on February 9, and will include a two night stand on February 26 and 27 at the Radio City Music Hall.
Celtic Woman, with their successes on both the World Music and Billboard Top 200 charts, transcends the classical crossover and Irish music genres, carving a place out for themselves in the adult contemporary music genre using their signature style and sound.
Their new CD features songs they recorded in the studio that came from “Songs from the Heart-Live at Powerscourt House & Gardens,” their 5th TV special on PBS. The special is on the live companion DVD and beautifully captures Celtic Woman’s pure essence. The album and DVD showcase vocalists Alex Sharpe, Lynn Hilary, Chloe Agnew and Lisa Kelly along with the dynamic violin playing of Mairead Nesbitt. Both the DVD and CD of “Songs from the Heart” include contemporary hit songs like “When You Believe” by Mariah Carey and “Goodnight My Angel” by Billy Joel in addition to Irish classics such as “My Lagan Love” and “Galway Bay.” There is also a “Songs from the Heart Deluxe Experience Edition CD that fans can purchase. It includes a heart charm keepsake, desktop calendar of 18 months and VIP access to an online virtual Celtic Woman community.
Celtic Woman is a unique all woman ensemble that has experienced lots of mainstream success without having traditional drivers of sales like video and radio airplay. There are no other all woman ensembles in this adult contemporary genre that have sold 5 million albums or had two albums debut in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top 200, have 3 platinum and gold albums, four releases in the Top 5 of Billboard’s Top Video chart or sold over one million concert tickets. Their success has come through connecting with their fans via specials on Public Television, their frequent tours and by word of mouth when their fans share their music with loved ones and friends.
Recently Celtic Woman performed in Washington D.C. For the National Christmas Tree Lighting. They joined other performers like Ray LaMontagne, Jordin Sparks, Common and Sheryl Crow. The ability of the group to cross over cultural and musical boundaries was in evidence when they were invited to perform on the ABC television show “Dancing With The Stars,” where they sang for approximately 23 million viewers. Their TV specials on PBS over the last five years have dominated the airwaves.
