Celtic Woman Prepares US Audiences for Harmonies

Posted by Janice Bryant On November - 13 - 2007

Celtic Woman, the vocal group from Ireland, recently wrapped up a five week US tour. They will be returning next year to do an even more extensive cross country trek.

The outing will be kicking off in the city of Grand Prairie, TX on February 14 and then visit almost 50 US cities through the middle of May. Multiple engagements are slated for Los Angeles; San Francisco; Salt Lake City, UT; Seattle; Chicago; Louisville, KY; St. Louis, MO; New York City and Providence, RI.

Celtic Woman is currently in Japan in continued support of “A New Journey,” their January platinum selling release. The set mixes classic favorites with contemporary hits along with Irish standards. The album after 42 weeks is currently No. 1 on the Billboard Top World Albums chart. It inspired “A New Journey: Live from Slane Castle, Ireland”, a companion DVD.

In addition the group is supporting “A Christmas Celebration Live from Dublin,” their latest DVD released last month. The full DVD performance will be shown as a special on PBS-TV during the public television network’s pledge drive in December.

The phenomenon of Celtic Woman began with a 90 minuted show that premiered on PBS in the US in March 2005. The program has been show on 316 PBS stations over 3,400 times. The success of the program led to a full scale tour.

Currently the group is comprised of the vocalists Lynn Hilary, Orla Fallon, Lisa Kelly and Chloe Agnes as well as Mairead Nesbitt, their fiddle player. Each of the women have released their own solo albums in addition to the Celtic Woman recordings.
