Once their US trek is over, the women will be heading over to Japan.
“A Christmas Celebration Live from Dublin,” Celtic Woman’s upcoming DVD is a follow up to their critically acclaimed album from last year, “A Christmas Celebration.” According to a recent press release, the CD has sold over 400,000 copies. The new DVD is due out on October 2 and features original songs as well as holiday classics, including the song “Green the Whole Year Round.”
The entire DVD performance will also be aired on PBS television during a pledge drive in December. The first special Celtic Woman did for PBS has been aired over 316 PBS station 3,400 times since its debut in March 2005.
Between Celtic Woman’s self-titled debut of 2005 along with “A Christmas Celebration,” the group has held Billboard’s World Music No. 1 chart position for 95 weeks in a row.
The all female vocal ensemble in January released “A New Journey,” their platinum selling album that mixes Irish standards with classical favorites and contemporary hits. Another companion DVD was inspired by the set: “A New Journey: Live from Slane Castle, Ireland.”
Dave Kavanagh and Sharon Brown from Celtic Collections, Ltd, an independent record label based in Ireland, conceived the group Celtic Woman along with David Downes, musical director, to tour and showcase Irish female performers and singers talents. The women have also released their own solo albums as well.
