“The Celtic Woman Tour,” the ensemble outing featuring five talented woman Irish vocalists will be returning in February to North America to kick a long 2007 tour off.
The ensemble features the vocalists Lisa Kelly, Chloe Agnew, Orla Fallon, Mairead Nesbitt, Meav Ni Mhaolchatha and new addition Hayley Westenra. They will be launching their tour in Tampa, FL for two shows starting on February 14. The trek will cover more than 50 cities and run through May.
“The Celtic Woman Tour” is the Celtic music version of Lilith Fair. It’s the brainchild of Dave Kavanagh and Sharon Brown from Celtic Collections , Ltd, an independent record label in Ireland. The two along with David Downes, musical director, envisioned the tour for showcasing talented Irish women singers and performers.
Recently the ensemble released a Christmas songs album called “A Christmas Celebration. It hit the stores on October 3 and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s World Music chart. It pushed their previous self-titled set from the No. 1 spot. The album had held that position for a total of 81 weeks.
In January Celtic Woman is scheduled to release their new studio album called “A New Journey.”
